About Kristen

Kristen Kjellman Marshall is a Westwood, Massachusetts native who led her high school to its first state championship in 2003. She went on to help lead Northwestern University to three consecutive national championships and was named a four-time All-American. Kristen earned the Tewaaraton Trophy twice and the Honda Award three times, recognizing her as the top lacrosse player in the nation. She was also selected to the U.S. National Team for five years and won a gold medal at the 2009 World Championship.

Joanna Cook Kjellman was born in Daytona Beach, Florida, and graduated from the University of Georgia. After graduation, she lived in Atlanta but migrated north and has been living in the greater Boston area ever since.

She truly enjoys being a mother and is grateful for her precious granddaughter! Joanna was always a proud supporter and super fan of Kristen. Watching her play lacrosse was always such a delight!

Joanna and Kristen, upon recognizing there was a real need for children’s books on lacrosse, set their sights on helping to educate the next generation of lacrosse players. They are happy to become first time authors.
